4 Spooky Corners

4 Spooky Corners
  • Label each spooky corner with Halloween symbols (see downloadable).
  • Assign a student to be the caller in the centre of the room.
  • The caller closes their eyes and counts down from 10 (as Gaeilge) while the rest of the students choose a spooky corner and move to it.
  • The caller shouts out the name of the spooky corner - students in the corner are out or alternatively must do a Halloween exercise challenge (see downloadable).
  • After each call students return to the centre of the room and play continues until one student is left or after a set time.

What time is it Ms. Witch?

What time is it Mrs. Witch
  • Choose one student to be a witch and provide them with a witch hat, if possible.
  • The witch stands at one end of the 'graveyard' and the rest of the class stand and wait at the other end of the 'graveyard'.
  • The class ask the witch “What time is it Mrs. Witch?”
  • The witch then says a time e.g. “It is 3 o Clock”, the children take three steps towards the witch.
  • The children repeat the question “What time is it Mrs. Witch?” and move forward each time.
  • When the witch says “Its Halloween Night” the witch tries to catch one of the children who are running back to the wall at the start of the game.
  • If the witch catches one of the children then the witch has won and choose a new witch from the class.

Halloween Actions

Halloween Actions
  • Ask the class to find their own space in the 'graveyard'.
  • If possible play spooky music.
  • Call out different actions for students to complete e.g. walk like a zombie, fly like a bat, move like a ghost (see downloadable for the full list)

These Halloween-themed physical education games are not only a great way to keep primary school children active but also make the holiday season more enjoyable and memorable. By combining fun and fitness, you can ensure that the spooky spirit of Halloween is alive and well in your PE class. So, get your witches' brooms, monster moves, and pumpkin patches ready for a ghoulishly good time this Halloween season!
